Some interesting work & talent posted here, though I've never checked out this thread. O.K. here is something I wrote & published back in the day, It's from a book I wrote that is no longer in print but this particular
poem is included in a collection of mine, scheduled for April or May publication next year & will be available thru Amazon & Barnes & Noble among others. I'll post a firm release date here on ddd.com when I know it....just in case anyone is interested.


Without Wings

Replenish the winds
with howls of joy,
man/woman
intercourse,
animal
each in honest play,
incessant
upon sole unity…
spectacle this slow motion
mime enlightenment,
sacrifice is soul adrift
immortal may we be
naked thinking…
a definite descent
free as a bird without wings
fragments,
conception
the whole house,
the plan sanity,
the intent spiritual
reproach assumed,
the multitude
freshly fed,
walking within the vision of Eden…

confession
as blessing,
table dressing
holy the invitations
sad in human hands,
mundane mechanics
Sodom obscene,
hunger
a gift horse
from the mouth of the lord
regular,
one size fits all,
preserve the mystery…..
parent tribes trace abandonment,
metaphysics crossroad,
transmigration,
brains and things valve release
adrenalin as atom
instant freedom
universal language,
the winds of change
beneath the wheels
bad floats to the surface
O’ the mind of man…..

the lessons of survival,
the future as it appears
the feast familiar,
event specific
pleasure, pain and purpose,
a definite descent
free as a bird without wings
intrusion…….
hysterics and lunacy
the act repeated,
beyond instinct
the force of faith,
sworn to the fact
after a fashion,
all but living theatre,
the heartless brood
a fool’s distortion, disaster
a definite descent,
for the present hereafter
chronicle
the atmosphere assured,
civilization
free as a bird without wings
revelation………

a reflection,
the end days fear
a revolution,
the body
deterioration,
decadence
the wares of exception,
envision the destruction,
Eden’s seeds
the mutation,
the violent side effects
exacted,
wave of nausea,
internal
inferno,
a definite descent
free as a bird without wings
isolation,
replenish the winds
with whispers and echoes,
spectacle the contrast
envisioned,
free as a bird without wings
contradiction.

Personally I thought that was great. Very Morrison-ish, which I just love. Were you influenced by Jim's writing in any way?

At that time in my life I was more inspired than influenced. But writers like
Lawrence Ferlinghetti always got my attention, especially when I lived in the Haight in S.F. and spent many hours at City Lights. If you don't know City Lights in S.F. & Powell's in Portland are the best bookstores in the west.......It took many years to develop a style of my own and most of that stuff is in the collection coming out in the Spring. I'll get a copy to you.
