Entwistle for number one. Also, that guy from Tool needs to be put back on. Not the best band, but he's awesome. |

What do you mean by "the best". Musicians have to be judged by their contemporaries since we all have the advantage of learning from our predecessors. From the early to the late 60's Jamerson was without a doubt the best and most original bassist outside of Jazz. He inspired all the bassists that followed. Among Rock bassists I have to believe he has to be considered among the best and most original, if not the best. His position at #1 is secure IMO. |

| And you better get in fast. It's only a matter of time before the old bastard kicks the bucket. |

Back when Jamerson was inventing his jazz inspired proto Funk syncopated lines he was far advanced of Entwhistle. Aside from the bass solo on My Generation (which paled next to anything Jamerson was doing at the time) I find nothing on the Who's early albums that stands out. From the mid to late 60's Tim Bogert was far more advanced and original than Entwistle and he admits he was mostly inspired by Jamerson. It wasn't until 1969 on that Entwistle blossomed into the great player he became. Entwistle also was inspired by Jamerson. |

He's not that old. He's got at least 20 good years left in him unless he want's to quit. |
