| I cringe every time Jason Mraz wins an award. |

Bon Jovi's probably the least deserving of the three. You can't deny Mraz is enormously talented, even if you hate his music. I'd say it's too soon for this kind of an award for him though. CSN deserve it.
Anyway, it's better to judge the artist on his merits rather than by who hasn't received the award. |

| Naah, they're a bunch of friggin' idiots over there. In what universe is Don McLean more deserving of the Songwriting Hall of Fame than Pete Townshend? |

Well, you know how everyone adores American Pie.
I'm with you. Townshend deserves it. So does Tom Waits and a dozen other people too, but hell, every hall of fame has some level of subjectivity than can be swayed by popularity and mainstream appeal. I'm sure they'll be inducted eventually. I'm really only surprised when new artists get inducted so quickly. You'd think there'd be a certain time to wait. |

I think that Hall of Fame must be almost entirely political at this point. Tom Jones? His manager and publicist must have greased some palms to swing that. The guy didn't even start writing songs until relatively recently. |

| The exclusion of Pete Townshend and Ray Davies (probably the two best solo songwriters in the history of rock music) automatically invalidates that entire so-called "hall of fame." Absolute bollocks. |

The U.S. Songwriters Hall of Fame has been around since 1969. It's located in New York. The nominees for induction are not chosen by the public, but the public can vote on who gets inducted. You have to become a member in order to vote. If you are not a member of the music industry you only qualify for Lifetime Membership, which will cost you a one-time payment of $1000.00. Here is the membership application: http://www.songhall.org/forms/shof_membership.pdf . Help induct Leonard Cohen into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Leonard Cohen was nominated in 2007 and he lost. Hopefully, next time we will all be ready! Here are the Songwriters Hall of Fame pages for Leonard Cohen: http://www.songhall.org/index.php/vote/vote2007 AND http://www.songhall.org/vote/entry/195 .
You don't have to be a U.S. Citizen to vote!
